The rumors are true about Kris

A couple of weeks ago, I received forwarded email about one of the hottest celebrities today -- Bench model, Beer model and daughter of hero Ninoy Aquino: Kris! (tadah!)

The email recounted how a doting aunt brought her two nieces to see Kris Aquino. Since they were fervent fans finally getting a chance to meet their idol, the young people were excited, even though the only time they got was a photo opportunity. As the aunt tried to get a good shot, she asked Kris to turn slightly to favor the light. Here's what happened next:

[Kris] did so but impatiently and crossly, almost knocking my niece over. I took the picture and she smiled right on cue, then she fled. My younger niece, who I thought was oblivious to the tension, didn’t pose with her sister and shouted, almost tearfully, “ANG SUNGIT MO NAMAN, KRIS!”

[...snip...]

You know what’s the worst thing about this whole scene? It’s the fact that I’m sure Kris doesn’t know and couldn’t care any less that she just hurt two loving kids who did nothing wrong except chose her as their “idol”.

Anyways, I always treat email messages like these with suspicion, but someone from our mailing list gave us a link to the blog of the aunt where she described the event. (It's here, if you're curious), so it IS real, and you can visit the blog to read the fiasco in its full glory. It even has a link to the video where Buzz interviewed Kris about the incident.

Other mailing list members started posting their own 2nd-hand Kris Aquino anecdotes, one of which involved a similar incident in a video production team where Kris allegedly virtually took over by giving out directions, even to the point of saying "Cut!"

Plus there was this interesting story about when a condom company approached Kris to help endorse condoms. She refused, saying that she was Catholic, which probably explains why she had that problem with Joey Marquez later. wink-wink.

And that, I say, is the Filipino who is worth dying for.

haha, i like your last line.

Yeah, i felt so riled up after reading the forwarded email too. It's sad but not really surprising that the prima donna attitude should come from her pa, of all people.

Anyway, I don't really know where to post this comment: I've been viewing your book content on Drupal and I like what you've written. I hope you could expand more on it :)

You're definitely right that you don't need to be a programmer/developer to access the flexibility Drupal offers. I'm a stay-at-home mom and programming is so far from my trade (I used to be a history teacher), but with Drupal - I was able to host a multi-site (one for my blogging needs, and the other one for a community of unschoolers here in the Philippines). As a person with non-programming background, Drupal looks definitely complicated at first. But the more complicated it gets, the more i learn (and love) programming 101. I hope more Filipinos (programmers or non-programmers) can see this gem in Drupal.

Thanks!

Wow, a Drupal mom!

Thanks for reading the blog. It's good to know you're learning Drupal. If you have any questions, just holler. ;-)
