What will it take for us to shift to a product-based company? When we started out as Digital Solutions, we were a service-based, web development firm. Now we want to move forward, quickly, and be at the cutting edge.
To do this, we need to do the following:
- Develop an open and alert mindset
- Take risks and dive
- Think fast, act faster
- Create a new product
LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman said that ideas today have a fast shelf-life. This means that the idea gets stale as soon as you think about it, so you better act quickly because, chances are, someone else is already doing something similar.
The question that is foremost in our minds now is, how do we make the swing form service to product?
37signals, creators of Basecamp, started out as a web design firm. Now their products are highly popular, thanks to a combination of blog-savvy marketing and simple web app design and architecture.
One important factor is to accept that it's a matter of reorienting our culture towards a more entrepreneurial, risk-taking mindset. "Think fast, act faster" seems to be a nice slogan for this change. Hmmm...
Wait. So is this why Dig It All Solutions is finally coming out with its blog?
Abangan!
